The background of this shadow box is Karen's pen and ink illustration. Even the wallpaper is handpainted. The box has a sense of humor, including the lock on the fridge, the mouse in the teacup, one talking on the phone and the third mouse that has escaped to the border on the top of the box. The borders on the box are made with vintage curtain tie-backs. Tie-backs are actually fancy push pins that were used to hold kitchen curtains back from the window.
